How to Maintain Your Golf Cart Batteries:

Before getting started we suggest wearing latex or rubber gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Also we recommend not having any Jewelry on.

  • Step One: Remove the Caps.
  • Step Two: Check to see how high the levels are at: If cells ARE exposed add a small amount of water to just cover the plates. If cells are not exposed skip this step and proceed onto Step Three.
  • Step Three: Place Caps back onto the batteries and complete a full charge.
  • Step Four: Remove Caps and fill water to the electrolyte level which is about 1/8" below the bottom of the fill wells.
  • Step Five: Replace the battery caps.
  • Step Six: If there is any Corrosion the batteries themselves or on the posts, they should be cleaned off with water and some baking soda with a metal bristled brush.
  • Step Seven: Tighten the battery posts (do not touch any of the posts together while tighten them or disconnect them)(And remember righty tighty, lefty loosey).
  • Step Eight: Give batteries a full charge.

Some helpful side notes:

  • The lead plates on the batteries should never be exposed to air, otherwise it could damage them and the batteries could.
  • Do not over fill batteries because it may cause batteries acid to boil over.
  • Use distilled of deionized water.
  • Maintaining batteries properly we can help extend your battery life.
  • It is better to add small amounts of water instead of waiting to long and adding a lot of water at one time.
  • While charging the batteries, we also recommend lifting the seat to allow any gases from the batteries airflow. Letting the battery breath while charging will help stop some of the corrosion on the posts and batteries.
